1. What is Aromatherapy?

Aromatherapy, also referred to as Essential Oil therapy, can be defined as the art and science of utilizing naturally extracted aromatic essences from plants to balance, harmonize and promote the health of body, mind, and spirit. It seeks to unify physiological, psychological and spiritual processes to enhance an individual's innate healing process. (www.naha.org)

2. What is an Essential Oil?

An Essential Oil is a natural oil typically obtained by distillation and having the characteristic fragrance of the plant or other source from which it is extracted.

Essential Oils are the fragrant, highly concentrated natural constituents that are found in plants. They are what give the plant its characteristic odour and contain the healing power of the plant from which it was extracted. When used correctly, essential oils bring a wide range of health benefits since unlike modern drugs, they have no side-effects.

3. Are there any health benefits to Essential Oils?

Essential Oils possess a wide range of healing properties that can be used effectively to keep you in the best of health as well as looking good.

These health- giving benefits include improving the complexion of your skin by stimulating cellular renewal, easing aches and pains, balancing roller-coaster emotions, and fighting bacteria, fungi and other forms of infection. Essential oils have an almost endless list of therapeutic uses, and science continues to discover more about them every year. (www.quinessence.com)

4. What are the benefits of an Aroma(inhaling Essential Oils)?

Essential oils that are inhaled into the lungs offer both psychological and physical benefits.

5. What are the benefits of Physical Application?

Essential oils that are applied to the skin can be absorbed into the bloodstream. The constituents of essential oils can aid in health, beauty, and hygiene conditions. SINCE ESSENTIAL OILS ARE SO POWERFUL AND CONCENTRATED, THEY SHOULD NEVER BE APPLIED TO THE SKIN IN THEIR UNDILUTED FORM. To apply essential oils to the skin, essential oils are typically diluted into a CARRIER such as cold pressed vegetable oil, also known as a carrier oil.

6. What is a Carrier Oil?

A carrier oil is a vegetable oil derived from the fatty portion of a plant, usually from the seeds, kernels, or the nuts.

If applied to the skin undiluted, essential oils can cause severe irritation or reactions in some individuals. Carrier oils are used to dilute essential and other oils prior to topical application. The term carrier oil is derived from their purpose in carrying the essential oil onto the skin.

7. What is the best way to store Essential Oils?

Essential Oils do not like extreme, or repeated changes in temperature. Creole Secret Therapeutic Aromatherapy, packages our essential oil blends in dark colored glass, since this filters out the suns ultra-violet light. However, no matter the color of the bottle, you should never leave the oils in places where the sun will shine directly on them. Over a period of months this will dramatically speed up the process of oxidation (deterioration) due to them continually heating up and cooling down. It is best to keep Essential Oils in a dry dark place and away from children. (www.quinessence.com)

8. Why is quality so important to therapeutic Essential Oils?

First and foremost, only essential oils of the very highest quality should be used in aromatherapy. Quality is what determines the therapeutic activity of an essential oil, and if it is not therapeutically active it will not work effectively in aromatherapy.

9. How long do Creole Secret therapeutic essential oils last?

The shelf life of our oils varies on the type of oils used in a particular blend. Please contact customer support for further information regarding a particular oil in your blend.

10. Are Creole Secret essential oil blends therapeutic grade?

Yes. We use the highest quality oils that are in the purist and most natural form from both local (USA) and overseas sources.

11. What precautions should I take when using Creole Secret therapeutic essential oil blends?

Keep out of reach of children. Unless advised by an expert, never place essential oils directly on skin. Never ingest oils.

12. Can I consume essential oils?

Yes and No. Although there are some essential oils that are consumable, you should never consume any essential oils without specific directions how to ingest.
